Opinion: Five players Mourinho needs to use more amidst injury crisis

Tottenham Hotspur are well and truly in the midst of an injury crisis in North London this season.

Not only are the Lilywhites without lead man Harry Kane, but Heung-min Son has also now undergone surgery on a fractured arm whilst Moussa Sissoko is currently recovering from knee surgery.

As a result, Mourinho is struggling for options upfront. Here are five players he should be using more to help ease the issue:

Tanguy Ndombele

It is time to sink or swim for Tottenham’s record signing. Mourinho hasn’t handed the midfielder too many starts since taking over as head coach, but Ndombele has shown flashes of brilliance. He is one of the few Spurs midfielders who has the ability to pick the ball up and consistently drive past players to break the lines.

Oliver Skipp

Skipp has barely featured under Jose Mourinho, but I believe he should be given more game time. The youngster is mature far beyond his years and always seems to impress in midfield. Not only should he be used to give Winks a rest, but also as an extra body in midfield to push Lo Celso forward into more dangerous positions.

Troy Parrott

Need I say more? The only striker remaining injury-free at the club. Young or not, he at least deserves a few minutes under his belt.

Erik Lamela

Having returned from injury against RB Leipzig, Lamela always has it in him to change a game from the bench. However, Mourinho should be handing the Argentine the odd start to give Moura and Bergwijn a rest too.

Ryan Sessegnon

With Ben Davies having recently returned from injury, Sessegnon should be deployed as a left-winger. This provides cover at the back, but also gives Spurs pace and effort up top. He is by no means a striker, but he can cause plenty of problems from a wide position.
