Opinion: Five players who let the side down against Everton in disappointing draw

Tottenham Hotspur dropped another two points from a winning position in the Premier League today as they visited Everton at Goodison Park.

Dele Alli put the Lilywhites 1-0 up in the second half before Heung Min Son was sent off and Cenk Tosun nodded home for the Toffees.

Tottenham just about held on for a point in the closing moments after 12 minutes of added time largely resulting from a horror injury to Andre Gomes.

Here are our five players who let the side down this week:

Christian Eriksen –

I don’t understand how this man is still playing. He is leaving in the summer. He doesn’t look committed. He plays with his head down. He doesn’t defend. And he is in poor form going forward. Every promising Spurs move seemed to end with a misplaced Eriksen pass, cross, or touch today. Drop him, Poch!

Lucas Moura –

Almost forgot he was playing. Moura was isolated in the first half, then woeful in the second half when he moved from striker to winger. Seemed like his big chance to impress with Kane out and he threw it away. Very frustrating.

Davinson Sanchez –

I am all for the centre-backs bringing the ball out, but Sanchez was attempting one-on-ones against strikers in his own half today. Lost the ball and kickstarted Everton breaks from nothing on multiple occasions. Also seemed to be walking a thin line with some tackles on Richarlisson and was partly at fault with Toby for the Tosun goal.

Heung Min Son –

Famed for stepping up when Kane is out, Son didn’t look his usual self today. Didn’t bring the pace and energy he usually does, either on the wing or up front. Sonny then picked up a red card for his challenge on Gomes, although I thought this was a harsh decision.

Ben Davies –

Captain for the day, I expected big things from Ben. However, he let Walcott and co in behind time and time again in the first half, while misplacing a number of passes too. He had all the room in the world in front of him for the first half an hour and did next to nothing with it.
