Opinion: Five things we learned from the 3-2 win over Bournemouth

Jose Mourinho’s 100 per cent run as Spurs manager continues as Tottenham defeated Bournemouth 3-2 in North London today.

It followed the same script as the West Ham match last week, as Spurs went 3-0 and cruising before conceding two late goals to make fora few nervy final moments.

Let’s take a look at the five things we learned:

Defence an issue again –

Sooner or later, Tottenham’s ability to see out a game is going to bite them under Mourinho. Spurs went 3-0 up in the match today, but almost conceded a 3-3 equaliser in the final seconds. Definite room for improvement.

Dele Dele Dele –

If you were not sure if he was well and truly back or not, you are now! Dele was sensational today, at the heart of every good piece of Spurs play. Scored two, should have had three or four, and even created the Sissoko goal by setting Son free.

Dele helps Toby –

Not only is Dele Alli helping himself to goal, but he is also improving Toby Alderweireld’s play. With Dele making those trademark late runs from deep again, Toby can make the most of his pinpoint long balls, taking the pressure off his passing out from the back.

Moussa Sissoko? A goal?!

It has finally happened, a Moussa Sissoko goal. Rarely seen in the wild buy boy was in beautiful when it came along. Sissoko managed to get forward into the box and guide Sonny’s cross home as he leapt through the air. The Spurs players and fans, of course, were thrilled for the Frenchman.

Vertonghen back in the side –

Jan was back in the side today and put in his best performance of the season. Looks comfortable in that left centre-back/left-back role and is definitely better with the ball at his feet that Rose, even if he is a little slower. I can only see the Belgian getting better under Mourinho.
