Opinion: Five things we learned from the 5-0 win over Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur put their Manchester defeat behind them today as they welcomed Burnley to the new stadium in the Premier League.

And what better way to forget a mid-week defeat than with a clean sheet and five goals scored?

Let’s take a look at the five talking points from the win in North London:

Front four on fire –

Another classic example of how that front four can completely dismantle a team in the Premier League. Goals from Lucas, Kane, and Son, as well as assists from Dele Alli, showed us how scary they can be as a quad.

Clean sheet –

Tottenham’s first clean sheet of the Mourinho era and their first since September in the Premier League. Spurs were as dominant at the back as they were going forward today, which is as it should be.

Give youth a chance –

Not only did we get to see Troy Parrott for the first time in the Premier League, but Mourinho used his other two subs to welcome young Oliver Skipp and Ryan Sessegnon back into the team. Three subs, three teenagers, three reasons to be happy as a Spurs fan.

Back in the race –

After Chelsea lost 3-1 to Everton, Spurs are now back in the race for the top four, moving back to just six behind the Blues. When Mourinho took over, this figure was at 12 points, which shows the start he has had in North London.

Sissoko scores… again!

Zero goals in over 90 games and then two in the space of three matches?! Sissoko seems to be taking to his new role under Jose Mourinho, and Spurs may finally have that extra goal-scoring central midfielder they have needed for a while.
