Opinion: Five things we learned from Tottenham’s 5-0 win over Norwich

Tottenham Hotspur managed to get the job done and pick up all three points today in their final Premier League match of the season against Norwich City.

Let’s take a look at the five things we learned:

Watching Tottenham on a Wednesday night – Spurs only needed a draw today, but capping off the season in style is exactly what Antonio Conte would have wanted to see. No matter what Arsenal did, even if they won 20-0, a win guaranteed the Lilywhites Champions League next season. Wednesday nights here we come!

Sonny’s Golden Boot! – We had a nervy final few minutes as Salah came close to robbing Son of the Golden Boot, but it ends all square in the race on 23. Son netted a brace against Norwich to go clear of the Liverpool man, before he scored one himself against Wolves. Well done, Sonny! We’re all proud of you!

Bentancur gets what he deserves – There has been so much talk about Kulusevski being a class January signing, but I would argue that Bentancur has been just as good. Of course, goals and assists always speak the loudest, but Bentancur has made such a difference in midfield, especially with Oliver Skipp missing. His two assists today were the icing on the cake and a reminder of what a good purchase he was.

Big summer – It was always going to be a huge summer for Tottenham, but you can’t help but feel Champions League qualification just sets us up on the perfect note. Conte and Kane happy, Son Golden Boot, more money to come next season, Paratici cooking – it’s surely going to be a good one!

Unsung moments – It’s worth taking a moment to remember the part the entire squad has played in this Champions League qualification. Without Bergwijn’s sensational double late against Leicester, Arsenal would have finished fourth. Without Lucas Moura’s incredible contributions in the first half of the season. Without Davies and Dier being solid all year. Without Sanchez coming in and filling Romero’s shoes. Even Harry Winks and Dele Alli’s performances at the start of the season. Without every single last one of them!
