Opinion: Five things we learned from Tottenham’s win over Wolves

Spurs took a large step towards European football next season with a win over Wolves this afternoon, earning a valuable 2-0 victory at home.

Let’s take a look at the five things we learned:

Golden Boot – Harry Kane edged ahead of Mo Salah in the golden boot race again this afternoon, although the Liverpool man still has to play today. Kane is now on 22 and Salah is on 21. Just about the only award for Spurs fans to keep an eye on.

Tanganga at right-back – The more I see of Tanganga at right-back, the less convinced I am. That is no dig at the player himself, I just think he is being played out of position. I hope the new manager comes in and puts him back to centre-back, then offers him a Premier League loan move for next season.

Dele growing into things – Dele seems to be growing in confidence with each passing game. The thing about Alli is that you really need to build around him though. He plays the game at his own pace and needs lots of runners around him. Ultimately, I think his Spurs future will depend on the new manager and how they want to play.

Hojbjerg immense – Not only did he do his primary job and break up play to earn a clean sheet, but he also created Harry Kane’s goal from nothing and added a goal of his own to the game. Such a well-rounded player for Spurs and will be huge moving forward.

Truth about Bale – I think the one trend I am noticing is that Bale is world-class when Spurs are on top. When he has time and space on the ball, he can unlock doors, create goals and score some of his own. When Spurs are going toe-to-toe with a top-six rival, Bale doesn’t always have the legs to get into the game. Great squad option to rotate in and out.
