Opinion: Four players who were incredible for Spurs against Norwich City

Tottenham Hotspur finally managed to get a Premier League win on the board in 2020 last night as they defeated Norwich City at home by two goals to one.

In true Spurs fashion, they didn’t make it easy for themselves, but a late Son winner was enough to seal all three points.

Let’s take a look at the four Spurs stars who caught the eye against Norwich:

Giovani Lo Celso –

I cannot say enough about this man and his performance last night. He has been growing into the Spurs shirt for a few weeks now, and he continued to show that flair and creativity. However, the Argentine was also arguably Tottenham’s best defensive player on the pitch, making more tackles and recoveries than anyone (Squawka). Such work rate and talent from this boy! Very exciting times ahead.

Serge Aurier –

While Aurier has always been good going forward, he has always left huge questions to be asked of his defending and positional awareness. However, in recent weeks, his defending has dramatically improved and that was the case against Norwich again last night. The BBC revealed an incredible stat that Aurier has seven assists in all competitions, with Alexander-Arnold being the only Premier League defender with more this season.

Harry Winks –

Few take notices of the immense work that Harry Winks does in that deep central midfield role. Last night, he was almost playing as a third central defender or sweeper in front of Alderweireld and Vertonghen. He managed to intercept and win the ball time and time again to start attacks, while also recycling it positively to the forward players. He is covering the ground and work of two players at the moment, as demonstrated by how poor Dier did the same job when he came on. He will be a big miss after his second-half injury.

Dele Alli –

To be honest, he was poor for the vast majority of the game, but he did come alive when it mattered. If you finish a 2-1 win with a goal and assist, you have to at least get a mention.
