Opinion: From zero to hero – My thoughts on Sissoko’s new contract

Tottenham Hotspur have given Moussa Sissoko a brand-new contract and I could not think of anyone more deserving.

Sissoko’s old contract ran until 2021, with the latest deal keeping him at Spurs for an extra two years.

In my opinion, Sissoko has been one of the best and most consistent performers across 2018 and 2019, so he has been well worth this new deal.

I also think that two years is a sensible amount of time to give the midfielder, with him being over the age of 30.

This removes the chance of him leaving on a free whilst also ensuring that we get his very best years before moving him on eventually. To be honest though, I can see this guy playing well into his mid-thirties.

My hope now is that more contracts are set to follow. Alderweireld and Vertonghen would be my priority, with Eriksen looking like a lost cause.

Oliver Skipp and Danny Rose would also come high up on my list for new deals at the club.

Who do you want to see sign?
