Opinion: How Spurs could line up next season with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the XI

With Tottenham Hotspur said to be completing the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this weekend, we wanted to take a look at how he could fit into the XI next season.

We believe that defensive midfield was likely the club’s number one priority this summer after selling both Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele in the last year or so.

Hojbjerg represents a real out-and-out ball-winner to marshall the centre of the pitch, unlocking the more attacking abilities of his fellow midfielders.

We believe that the most-used starting XI next season with Hojbjerg will be as follows:

Hugo Lloris lines up between the sticks, with Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier in the centre of defence. Ben Davies occupies the left-back spot, while a new and unnamed right-back comes into the squad.

Hojbjerg represents the sole holding midfielder, allowing Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele more freedom on either side.

Harry Kane then leads the line with Lucas Moura and Heung-min Son on either side.

However, while we believe this will be a regular XI seen in North London, we also predict that Harry Winks, Steven Bergwijn, Moussa Sissoko, and Dele Alli will be regularly used and rotated too.
