Opinion: How Spurs could make £195m from player sales this summer

Tottenham Hotspur need a huge rebuild this summer. That is clear for any fan of the club to see. It is finally time to clear out the deadwood, cash in on fringe players, and hit the reset button.

Let’s take a look at who Spurs could sell and how much they could get for them:

Hugo Lloris – £10m – Let me start by saying that I don’t want Lloris out of the club or anything. However, he isn’t getting any younger and only has a year left on his deal. I can’t see him signing a new one so let’s get him a move to PSG or somewhere.

Paulo Gazzaniga – £5m – Not quite sure why he was ever dropped but I’m sure we can still get around £5m for him.

Matt Doherty – £10m – If we want to sell him, we will have to take a hit. Honestly, I think the best thing for everyone is to send him back to Wolves. He doesn’t suit our system.

Serge Aurier – £15m – Another one coming to the end of his contract. He is a very experienced player and has a lot of attractive attributes, especially for other leagues. Should be able to get around £15m for him.

Davinson Sanchez – £30m – Much improved of late but still one to sell for me. Due to his young age, experience and contract situation, I think we could get £30m. His attributes are well suited to the French or Spanish leagues where there wouldn’t be as much defending to do and I’m sure someone would pay good money for him.

Juan Foyth – £5m – Looks to have done well out on loan and Spurs should find it easy to get a little bit of money back.

Eric Dier – £25m – He has endured a woeful season but he is still a decent age and has that English tax above his name. I’m sure the likes of Everton, Villa, Wolves etc would pay for him.

Ben Davies – £10m – Still three years left on his contract and a very steady and experienced player. I can see why managers love him, which is why someone would happily snap him up. For me, sell Davies and bring Sessegnon back as Reguilon’s understudy.

Harry Winks – £25m – Still young and has a lot to offer within a certain type of team, as well as that English tax again. I think he would do well at Southampton personally.

Moussa Sissoko – £10m – Bags of experience and still some time left on his contract. It may be time for Moussa to return to France.

Dele Alli – £40m – I still think that someone out there somewhere would pay very good money for Dele. If you could get him back to his old form in that kind of Pochettino system, £40m would be an absolute steal. A few years back he was arguably worth £100m.

Erik Lamela – £10m – I like Lamela as a squad option but if Spurs can sell him and make room for a new, young attacking midfielder, they should do it.
