Opinion: How Tottenham can use Juan Foyth to sign Philippe Coutinho this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are still in need of a replacement for Christian Eriksen in North London after the Great Dane moved to Inter Milan in January.

While Giovani Lo Celso certainly looks up to the challenge, I view him as a deep-lying playmaker rather than an Eriksen style player who will rack up goals and assists galore.

In my mind, Philippe Coutinho is the best option out there in terms of a cheap deal, as Barcelona may be willing to loan him out again next season.

When Bayern signed the Brazilian on loan last year, it was reported that they were charged £7.76m for their troubles (BBC).

Meanwhile, Spurs are also said to be looking to sell Juan Foyth this summer for £10m (Calcio Mercato), a player Barcelona are reportedly interested in (Mirror).

If Barcelona are willing to loan out Coutinho and are indeed keen on Foyth, surely a player/loan swap deal could be hashed out, perhaps even with an option to buy for Coutinho in the summer of 2021.
