Opinion: Is re-signing Michel Vorm the right decision for Tottenham?

Earlier this evening Tottenham announced that they have re-signed goalkeeper Michel Vorm just months after letting his contract run down and releasing him.

This comes after the club announced that Hugo Lloris had dislocated his elbow in the match against Brighton, keeping him out for the rest of the year.

I have seen mixed responses to Michel Vorm signing on Twitter, but I can’t really understand why.

Tottenham were down to two goalkeepers, Gazzaniga and Whiteman, with the latter being an inexperienced youngster. So, Spurs are in need of a new keeper, that’s a fact.

We are not currently in the transfer window, so a long-term big-money signing cannot be made, no matter how badly some fans want to see it.

So, Levy is reduced to the free transfer list. On that list, there happens to be an ex-Spurs player who spent many years at the club, knows the players and the staff, knows the routine, and has vast Premier League experience.

Someone please explain how this is anything but a no-brainer?
