Opinion: Liverpool and Tottenham combined XI – No Salah, Moura, or Henderson

Tottenham Hotspur take on Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow evening as they look to take revenge on the Reds for that Champions League Final defeat in June.

Spurs finally come into this game off the back of a good result after they beat Red Star Belgrade 5-0 on Tuesday night.

So, let’s take a look at our combined XI for Spurs and Liverpool:

Unfortunately, with Hugo Lloris injured and Alisson in the form of his life over the past year, the keeper position is a non-contest.

The vast majority of the defence is also tough reading for Spurs as Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander Arnold, and Virgil Van Dijk walk into the side. However, with Matip missing the last match for the Reds, I have gone for a wildcard selection of Jan Vertonghen.

The Belgian has been poor so far this season but I am backing him to get back to his best this weekend, and as a left-footed centre-back, he offers a good balance.

In my central midfield three, I have a strong trio of Tanguy Ndombele, Fabinho, and Georginio Wijnaldum. Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks just miss out.

However, the front three will be nicer reading for Spurs fans as Harry Kane and Heung Min Son both make it in, along with Sadio Mane. Salah misses out as I just think the previous three have had better seasons so far.

What would you change?
