Opinion: Looking at whether Conte is the right man for Tottenham

After the humiliating defeat against Man Utd, almost every Tottenham fan wanted Nuno sacked just four months after taking charge.

The atmosphere inside the stadium was toxic, with the South Stand chanting ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ as soon as Lucas was subbed off for a below-par Bergwijn.

This forced Levy and co to change management, with Nuno sacked on Monday morning and Antonio Conte, yes ANTONIO CONTE, taking charge the very next day.

I thought I would look at Italian’s style for Tottenham…

Having taken charge at the likes of Juventus, Chelsea, Italy and Inter, Antonio Conte’s CV is full of trophies and success. Trophies and success are something of a myth to Spurs fans, so could the Italian bring this to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

For me, Antonio Conte was the best option out of a bad bunch for us. The likes of Ten Hag or Potter would never come to a struggling side when their current teams are prospering so well.

The Italian coach is known as somewhat of a maniac within the footballing world, but this is exactly what the current Spurs side need. Mentally, the Spurs side are weak and unwilling to fight, so bringing Conte should hopefully toughen them up.

However, the main reason Conte is the right man for Spurs is due to his tactics. Under Nuno, Spurs lacked all identity, with tactics being hard to find throughout the season.

However, under Conte, the Spurs side will show true passion and desire, as well as looking like a well-oiled team compared to a group of individuals.

In the long-term, it is more than likely that we would see Conte line up with something like a 5-3-2, utilising, Emerson and Reguilon as wing-backs and playing Kane and Son upfront together with Ndombele just in behind. This could cause chaos under Conte!

Also, appointing Conte was a clear sign of intent from the Tottenham board. So often, they use the motto, ‘To Dare is to Do’ without ever trying ‘To Do’.

Appointing Conte shows that Spurs may finally be focusing on the football, which many fans have bashed them for failing to do in recent months.

Furthermore, it shows intent to our star players as well. In the summer, we saw just how desperate Kane was to leave as he allegedly skipped training.

Appointing one of the top managers in the world shows the likes of Kane and Son, that Spurs do have the intent to win trophies. Hopefully, this will make Kane show more passion and love for the club, something that has lacked under Nuno.

In fact, Kane already said in an interview that: “It shows great ambition, to be honest.”

Overall, I do think Conte is a good fit for our managerial post. He isn’t the perfect man for Spurs, but no manager is.

He will bring passion, intent and desire to a struggling Spurs side. The tactics will create a cohesive and well-oiled side, something that we have lacked ever since Pochettino left.
