Opinion: My dream January transfer window; Two in, Three out – £30m net spend

Tottenham Hotspur are in dire need of refreshment when it comes to the next transfer window. I believe that Poch and Levy only did half a job last summer in terms of restructuring the squad.

While I realise that only so much can be done in January and most the major changes will come in the summer, I would still like to see a few winter additions.

Here is my dream January window:

Outgoings:

Christian Eriksen – £25m

Victor Wanyama – £10m

Serge Aurier – £15m

Incomings –

Bruno Fernandes – £55m

Max Aarons – £25m

Net spend – £30m

Thoughts

Tottenham have to cash in on Eriksen before he leaves on a free, especially when he isn’t even playing well. Victor Wanyama has been pushed right down the pecking order and it seems to be time for him to leave. Serge Aurier is a liability and should be sold while Spurs can get decent money for him.

In terms of additions, I have tried to be realistic as the January window isn’t known for too many big deals. I am hoping that Spurs return for Bruno Fernandes as it seems a far more likely deal than Dybala. I also think that Spurs need a right-back, with Max Aarons one of my top choices.

When it comes to the summer window, I would also like to see Spurs going for the likes of Ake, Maddison, and Haaland.
