Opinion: Player ratings as Tottenham beat Shkendija 3-1 in the Europa League

As many fans would have expected, Tottenham brushed aside Macedonian side Shkendija in the Europa League qualifiers this evening.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Joe Hart – 5 – Nothing he could have done about the thunderbolt goal and had very little to do apart from picking that one out of his net.

Serge Aurier – 5 – Got forward pretty well down the right-hand side and got on the end of multiple corners at the scoring end.

Davinson Sanchez – 5.5 – Looked very energetic at the back and made up for the mistakes of others with his blistering pace.

Toby Alderweireld – 4 – A bit wayward in his passing at times this evening and looked short of a yard or two at times.

Ben Davies – 5 – Got forward nicely and made constant overlapping runs. Not a bad performance from the Welshman.

Harry Winks – 3 – Made one lovely chipped pass to create a chance for Lamela but woeful apart from that from Winks tonight. Should have thrived out there on the ball.

Tanguy Ndombele – 7.5 – Looked very tidy in possession as normal and always looked for a positive pass. He also got stuck in, got up for headers, and tracked back a lot more.

Dele Alli – 6 – You could see that he was trying to make a point with his work rate, even if he did seem to be a little short of match sharpness. A decent performance.

Steven Bergwijn – 5 – Pretty quiet night for Bergwijn but he was tidy in possession and worked hard for the team. Difficult when the starts are few and far between.

Erik Lamela – 6 – An extra point for the goal, but Lamela wasted two other good chances. One of his usual energetic but sometimes wasteful performances.

Heung-min Son – 7.5 – Always looked sharp and come up with a goal and an assist to win the game.

Substitutes:

Harry Kane – 6 – Came on and grabbed the third goal while also looking nice on the ball.

Giovani Lo Celso – 4 – Very sloppy in the middle of the park.

Lucas Moura – 5.5 – Forced Tottenham’s second goal with his positive shot.
