Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur could only manage a draw today against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, wasting the chance to go three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the table.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 7 – Lloris made a great save in the first half after a Palace shot as deflected off Hojbjerg. Little he could do for the equaliser.

Serge Aurier – 7 – Put in some lovely crosses throughout the match, including the one that set up Ndombele for a golden chance in the first half. Gave away the silly free-kick that led to the equaliser.

Toby Alderweireld – 8 – A brick wall at the back yet again. Toby knows when to push and get tight against the likes of Zaha and when to drop back to make the block.

Eric Dier – 7.5 – Stepped out of defence well today and looked good on the ball. Also covered nicely for Reguilon on numerous occasions. So nearly the hero with that late free-kick.

Sergio Reguilon – 6 – Tough to rate Reguilon today because he did a lot of good work. However, he was guilty of getting caught on the wrong side and letting his man go in defence, while also failing to thread Son in down the left a few times. A mixed bag.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 9 – Hojbjerg does what Hojbjerg does these days. He seems to secure at least an eight out of ten every week. Once again, mopped up in midfield efficiently and distributed well.

Moussa Sissoko – 7.5 – Covered really well when Aurier pushed up and held down the midfield with Hojbjerg. While he did get booked, it only came from Sissoko trying to bail Reguilon out of trouble. A good performance.

Tanguy Ndombele – 7 – Unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Guaita pulled off an incredible save for Ndombele’s sweeping effort early on, before blocking a follow-up shot later in the first half. Played well and got stuck in. Still want to see more though.

Steven Bergwijn – 7 – A workmanlike performance from Bergwijn, doing a lot of the dirty stuff without showing any flair in the final third. That seems to be his main job these days.

Harry Kane – 7.5 – His goal was a bit of a fortunate pot shot that the keeper should have held, but Kane’s all-round game today was superb. Should have got a second if not for a fantastic save.

Heung-min Son – 7 – Made so many great chances in the first half, including the assist for Kane’s goal. He also almost set up the same man from a corner minutes earlier, as well as Reguilon’s top corner effort. Quiet in the second half.

Substitutes:

Giovani Lo Celso – 6 – Didn’t manage to make much of an impact after coming on.

Ben Davies – N/A

Dele Alli – N/A
