Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s 2-0 semi-final victory over Brentford

Tottenham Hotspur are through to the Carabao Cup Final after a victory over Brentford this evening in North London.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 7 – Not a whole lot for the Spurs keeper to do tonight. However, he did look dominant when coming off his line.

Serge Aurier – 8.5 – Back in the side and looked pretty good at right-back. Always provides an attacking outlet but seems much better on the ball and defensively this season. Superb block against Toney early in the second half. We’ll forgive his miss in front of goal.

Davinson Sanchez – 8 – A good return for the Colombian. Facing a tall and physical Toney was no easy task and Sanchez stuck to his job well.

Eric Dier – 8 – Looked good on the ball and dominant in the air. Always looked for a short ball into midfield to start attacks, chipping effectively to the wings as a last resort.

Sergio Reguilon – 8.5 – Important that he had a good game tonight after his Christmas mistake. A superb assist for the opening goal and he looked a real threat all game. Still a little raw at times, but that is to be expected.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 7.5 – Sat in there and allowed Sissoko to push up when needed. Hojbjerg is comfortable not being the hero, he just does his job effectively all day long. Lucky to walk away from that late challenge.

Moussa Sissoko – 9 – A real all-round performance from the Frenchman today. A rare goal with his well-placed header and seemed to join attacks more often than usual. He was a real threat down that right all night.

Tanguy Ndombele – 7.5 – The perfect player on the ball in these kinds of games. Very rarely gives it away, wins a lot of fouls, and always looks progressive with his passing/dribbling.

Lucas Moura – 6.5 – Always looked lively, although a little rusty on that right-hand side. A few slips and lapses in concentration. However, he is a valuable asset in the Spurs squad.

Harry Kane – 7.5 – A pretty quiet game from Kane in the final third by all accounts. However, the focus on him allowed others to take advantage of space, such as Sissoko for his goal. Has to be said, some great defensive work from him when needed.

Heung-min Son – 8 – Full of running as usual. Always looked as though he was going to get one clear chance tonight and he took it when it came.

Substitutes:

Ben Davies – 6 – Came on to see the game out and did his job well.

Harry Winks – 6 – Nice to see him getting consistent minutes again.

Japhet Tanganga – N/A

Carlos Vinicius – N/A
