Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Man City – Three tens

Tottenham Hotspur are top of the Premier League once again after a hard-fought 2-0 win over Man City in North London.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 8 – Made a few routine saves to make and claimed the aerial balls well when needed. A calm head when Tottenham needed it.

Serge Aurier – 8.5 – Came in to replace Doherty and looked extremely impressive both defensively and on the ball in tight areas.

Toby Alderweireld – 9 – Games in which Toby gets to sit deep and read the game without racing back towards his own goal, he dominates. Barely put a foot wrong yet again.

Eric Dier – 9 – Never quite as classy as Alderweireld but Dier gobbled up anything that came his way in the air and cleared his lines all night.

Sergio Reguilon – 8.5 – One v one defending is definitely the weakest part of his game but Reguilon stood up well tonight, as well as making a few lung-busting forward runs.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 10 – The role that this man plays in the team cannot be understated. He almost played as a makeshift central defender at times, cutting off passing lanes and preventing City from making quick infield transitions.

Moussa Sissoko – 10 – Did the same as Hojbjerg but on the other side. Covered for Aurier at right-back every time the Ivorian went forward and did so with relative ease.

Tanguy Ndombele – 9 – Arguably the most energetic we have seen Ndombele off the ball. Pushing from the front, sliding tackles, winning the ball, and what an assist!

Steven Bergwijn – 7.5 – His first big chance in a while in the Premier League. Bergwijn put in a huge shift defensively, which deserves credit. Not quite at his sharpest in the final third, especially when he got that chance in the box, but played well.

Harry Kane – 10 – On and off the ball, Harry Kane was incredible tonight. For those who do not rate him or think he drifts through the game, just spend 90 minutes with your eyes on Kane. Kane was unplayable.

Heung-min Son – 8.5 – Sonny does what he does best, scoring! A great finish between the keeper’s legs for the opener. However, Son also tracked back and did his defensive part for the team, as well as being the first to dart forward in possession.

Substitutes:

Giovani Lo Celso – 8 – Came on and grabbed a goal within a few minutes. Instant impact! Put in a really good shift and kept the ball well after that too.

Lucas Moura – 7 – Came on to add legs up top and did his job well.

Joe Rodon – N/A
