Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s 2-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur were back in action and back to winning ways tonight in the Premier League as they defeated West Ham United 2-0 in North London.

Let’s take a look at how the Spurs players did on their second match back after the restart.

Hugo Lloris – 5 – Had very little to do throughout the match but did the simple things well.

Ben Davies – 6 – Not the most exciting player, but he put a shift in and did a decent job for the team. Not outstanding and room for improvement, but a disciplined performance.

Eric Dier – 8 – Solid performance at the back and represented the steady presence Spurs need back there. Could he be Mourinho’s new first-choice?

Davinson Sanchez – 4 – Always looks like he is about to fall over and can pull a mistake out of the simplest of scenarios.

Serge Aurier – 6.5 – Did his job well on the right-hand side, getting in behind time and time again. Just needs to work on his final ball.

Giovani Lo Celso – 9 – A superb performance. Put in a great corner for the opening goal. Set up Son’s offside goal and also the chance that Kane should have slid home. Looks at home in the central midfield role both offensively and defensively.

Moussa Sissoko – 7 – Looked a little leggy in the second half but Sissoko was once again the engine in the middle of the park. After six-months out, he has been incredible.

Dele Alli – 5.5 – Not a brilliant return but it was his first game back after all. His first touch was off, but there were some nice passing routines with Dele involved.

Heung-min Son – 4.5 – Seemed trapped out wide when Dele was on the pitch and wasn’t able to stretch his legs much when West Ham just sat behind the ball. Took his offside goal nicely though.

Harry Kane – 7 – Infinitely better than the Man United performance. Got on the ball a little and got on the end of some chances. The goals finally came too! That outside of the boot ball to Dele is also worth a mention.

Lucas Moura – 5.5 – A few nice passes in behind to Aurier but Lucas looked as if he was lacking sharpness in front of goal. Again, it was his first game back, so it is to be expected.

Substitutions –

Erik Lamela – 7 – His style of player worked better than Dele in the number 10 role. Brought others into play and looked dangerous during his time on the pitch.

Steven Bergwijn – 5.5 – Had a few chances going forward and probably should have played Kane in both times. A bright spark though.

Harry Winks – N/A
