Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Wolves

Tottenham Hotspur are back to winnings ways in the Premier League thanks to a 2-0 home victory over Wolves this afternoon.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 6 – Didn’t have a whole lot to do today beyond a few routine stops.

Japhet Tanganga – 6 – Weirdly looked better off the ball than on. Got caught out positionally a bit and the more I see him play at right-back, the less convinced I am.

Toby Alderweireld – 7 – Managed the game pretty well and spread some decent passes around. Very little to do in terms of actual defending.

Eric Dier – 6.5 – Similar to Alderweireld, although the left was more of a problem for Spurs than the right. Dier stood up well and wasn’t lured into any silly mistakes.

Sergio Reguilon – 7.5 – Always an outlet down the left-hand side. Caught out at the back a few times but showed his class in the final third for Spurs, especially in the build-up to the second goal.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 9 – Full of energy, broke the game up when Wolves were in possession and unlocked the door with a fantastic assist for Kane. He then followed up with a goal of his own when he was the fastest to react to Bale’s rebound.

Giovani Lo Celso – 6.5 – Some good and some bad with Lo Celso today. Across a full game, he is still too sloppy. Needs to be improving more with his recent game time.

Dele Alli – 8 – Plays the game at his own pace but full of trickery and creativity today. At times, I just wish he would do some more one-touch passing. Should have buried the shot that hit the post.

Heung-min Son – 7 – Looked very lively and full of confidence. Just not quite with the end product today. Passed backwards more than he needed to at times.

Harry Kane – 8.5 – Took his goal extremely well and was consistently on the ball for Spurs. Unlucky to hit the post twice too.

Gareth Bale – 8 – Really grew into the game and started to pull the strings for Tottenham. These kinds of games are perfect for Bale.

Substitutes:

Harry Winks – 5 – Knocked the ball around well and worked hard.

Tanguy Ndombele – 5 – More progressive than most during his cameo.

Moussa Sissoko – N/A
