Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Pacos de Ferreira

Tottenham Hotspur put their Thursday night demons behind them this evening as they overturned last week’s deficit to qualify for the Conference League group stages.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on against Pacos de Ferreira:

Pierluigi Gollini – 6.5 – Nervous moment to start with when he almost gave it away in his own box. A few dodgy back passes certainly didn’t make his night any more comfortable. Made a good stop in the 70th minute to keep Spurs in control though.

Matt Doherty – 7.5 – Should have grabbed an assist for Harry Kane at 1-0, but made plenty of great runs down that right side. Certainly suits that wing-back role better.

Cristian Romero – 8 – Great early ball to put Kane through on goal. Looked very aggressive and proactive in turning the ball over and getting attacks going. Looks very comfortable stepping out and getting involved with the ball at his feet too.

Eric Dier – 7 – Looked very steady at the back. A pretty easy job for him tonight in the centre of a three-man defence.

Ben Davies – 7.5 – Stepped out well with the ball in the left centre-back role. Used possession nicely and found some neat passes between the lines. Also solid defensively.

Ryan Sessegnon – 7 – Looked so positive down that left-hand side. Came in and out of the game but definitely another step up in performance. Wing-back seems to suit him too.

Harry Winks – 7 – Created that opening goal with his tenacious turnover in midfield. Worked hard in turning the ball over and used it well when he had it.

Giovani Lo Celso – 9 – Neat work to set up Kane’s second goal in the box. Looked to be Tottenham’s consistent spark in terms of creating chances and making things happen. Deserved his free-kick goal.

Lucas Moura – 8 – A couple of nice driving runs and a fabulous through-ball to send Doherty away. The roaming Gil left Moura stuck out on the right a little, however, his passing in behind, work rate, and aerial work today was top class.

Bryan Gil – 8 – Gil’s first assist for Tottenham for the first goal! Interesting to watch him ghosting around as he always demands the ball from teammates. Such an exciting raw talent who constantly looks to make things happen while working hard off the ball too.

Harry Kane – 9 – Captain for the day. Missed a good chance in the opening minute but quickly followed up with a superb touch and finish to make it 1-0. Kane made it two in minute 34 when he slotted home a Lo Celso pass. A great all-around performance.

Substitutes:

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 6.5 – Very neat and tidy after coming off the bench, as usual.

Heung-min Son – 6 – Missed two good chances after coming on but looked lively.

Steven Bergwijn – 7 – Deserved a goal as he beat two defenders and crashed one against the post.

Dele Alli – N/A
