Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s 3-2 win over Newcastle

Tottenham Hotspur made it back-to-back Premier League wins this evening with a 3-2 victory away to Newcastle United.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 7 – Nothing he could do about Newcastle’s goals and Hugo wasn’t called into action too much beyond that. Did a neat and tidy job today.

Emerson Royal – 7.5 – Really struggled with the pace of the game in the first 15 minutes but grew into proceedings and was a real outlet on the right.

Cristian Romero – 8 – Caught napping in Newcastle’s opener as he let Wilson nip in front of him. After that, he settled down and was pinging around some lovely passes.

Eric Dier – 6 – A very solid day for the English defender. Went about his work quietly and efficiently. Then the 89th minute happened and he scored one of the most bizarre own goals ever. Also worth a mention that he dealt with the defibrillator situation brilliantly.

Sergio Reguilon – 8 – Caught out with the overlap for Newcastle’s goal but responded with an assists. Played brilliantly going forward. Also did well in getting the game stopped when the fan fell ill. Well done, Reggy.

Oliver Skipp – 8 – He covered every blade of grass today. Protects the back four and uses the ball very well. When he does make a mistake, he runs through brick walls to make up for it.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 8.5 – So neat and tidy in the centre of the pitch. Not only can he break up play, but he can also make goals as seen with his Kane assist. Great performance.

Tanguy Ndombele – 9 – What a goal! The Frenchman looked so at home in the number 10 role today. He absolutely ran the game. Really exciting and positive to see.

Lucas Moura – 8 – Started the game rather poorly, then burst into life. Drove Spurs up the pitch, won free-kicks, hit the bar with a great header and created the third goal.

Heung-min Son – 7.5 – Barely managed to get a kick in the first 20 minutes but drifted a little more central and started to have an influence. Nice goal and great general play.

Harry Kane – 8 – The drought is over! Now pundits can be quiet. A well-taken goal and a fabulous assist for Harry.
