Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s 4-1 FA Cup win over Wycombe Wanderers

Tottenham Hotspur left it late but they got the job done away to Wycombe in the FA Cup, securing their spot in the fifth round against Everton.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on in the 4-1 win:

Joe Hart – 5 – Just doesn’t feel you with confidence between the sticks at the moment, but got the job done just about.

Ben Davies – 5.5 – Davies was pegged back in his own half more than he got forward. Needed to be more positive down the left. Improved as the match went on.

Toby Alderweireld – 4 – Got turned inside out for the Wycombe goal, awful defending from the experienced Belgian.

Davinson Sanchez – 4 – Poor defending in the build-up to the Wycombe goal. Looked all over the place against their front three.

Japhet Tanganga – 6.5 – Pretty impressive one-on-one defending and has the energy to get up and down the right-hand side. Still a centre-back for me though. Should have scored at the end of the first half!

Harry Winks – 8.5 – A few nice moments on the ball but got complete out-muscled against some bigger opponents in the first half. Improved vastly in the second 45 and deserved his goal. Man of the match.

Moussa Sissoko – 6.5 – Struggled to get up to speed in the middle of the pitch. Almost scored via a deflected effort. Actually looked better at right-back in the second half.

Erik Lamela – 7 – The creative spark in the midfield. Always seemed as though he was going to make something happen, although he does give the ball away a fair few times.

Lucas Moura – 7.5 – Always looks delightful on the ball against lower league sides, hence why he is such a good squad player. Magical feet and some superb solo runs.

Gareth Bale – 8.5 – Three glorious chances in the first half and failed to even hit the target with all three. Looked to be playing a more central role and was sharp until the final shot/pass. Finally got his goal with minutes to go in the first half with a nice finish.

Carlos Vinicius – 6 – Always seems to look impressive in bursts when deputising for Kane, just needs more consistent minutes to show what he is really about.

Substitutes:

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 6.5 – A shame that he was needed to win the midfield fight, but he made a big difference in there.

Harry Kane – 7 – You could tell that he loved getting out there in the FA Cup.

Heung-min Son – 6.5 – Looked so sharp after coming on but missed an absolute sitter. Made up for it with that late assist.

Tanguy Ndombele – 8.5 – Incredible skill on the ball and two goals to boot! What a player!

Joe Rodon – N/A
