Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s 7-2 Europa League win over Maccabi Haifa

Tottenham Hotspur and now officially through to the group stages of the Europa League after beating Maccabi Haifa 7-2 in their final knockout qualifier tonight.

Let’s take a look at how the players got on:

Joe Hart – 7 – Made several very nice saves, looked quick off his line, constantly ordered his defenders around and certainly looked up to the job of Tottenham’s number two.

Matt Doherty – 6 – Certainly better going forward than he was defensively. Left big spaces in behind, although I get the impression that he is being told to stay up the pitch.

Davinson Sanchez – 4.5 – Always looks a few seconds away from a mistake and tonight was no different. Gave the ball away in a few dangerous areas.

Toby Alderweireld – 6 – He may have lost half a yard but he still reads the game so well. Toby dug Sanchez out of a couple of holes tonight.

Ben Davies – 7.5 – The left side of defence was pretty solid and Ben Davies also managed to be a constant threat going the other way, creating plenty of chances and grabbing an assist.

Harry Winks – 6.5 – A rather uneventful first half, but Winks really grew into the game and got stuck in as the game went on. In my opinion, he needs to up his performances.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 7 – Offers the same passing as Winks but a bit more bite. He seems to be growing into his Tottenham role.

Giovani Lo Celso – 9 – He was different class for the half he was on the pitch. Two goals and constant creativity in the engine room. Would have been 10 if he had played for longer.

Steven Bergwijn – 7 – A good performance, although he still seems to lack the end product at times. Needs minutes, although they may be hard to come by once Bale returns.

Lucas Moura – 8 – Looked so lively tonight. When there is space between the lines, Moura really comes alive. He deserved his goal and then some.

Harry Kane – 9.5 – Hat-trick hero, Harry Kane put in yet another all-round display tonight against Maccabi. Dropped deep to create while still making himself available to finish.

Substitutes:

Dele Alli – 7.5 – Looked so bright after coming on. Passed quickly, worked hard, created space and chances. That nutmeg and penalty were worth a good score alone!

Moussa Sissoko – 5 – Came on to add fresh legs into the engine room and did well.

Sergio Reguilon – 5 – Just about getting this guy some minutes on the pitch.
