Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s awful 3-3 draw with Southampton

Tottenham managed to drop two points against bottom of the league Southampton this afternoon, despite being two goals to the good.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Richarlison

Fraser Forster – 8 – Can’t complain at all. Had no chance with the goals and made some huge stops to prevent further goals.

Pedro Porro – 8 – Looks to be the wing-back Spurs need. Some great balls over the top to Son, dangerous runs down the right, and a smashing goal.

Cristian Romero – 6 – Not a perfect game from Romero but he does so much work. Not only defends on the right, but also covers the middle and left because Spurs are not good enough. Three Romeros would be incredible.

Eric Dier – 4 – Spurs were all over the place at the back and Dier is meant to be leading them. Doesn’t seem to defend the dangerous space for the second balls.

Clement Lenglet – 3 – Shocking defending. Southampton figured out in the second 45 that the left was the spot to attack over and over again. Not good enough on or off the ball and missed a big chance to make it 4-3.

Ben Davies – 5 – Started pretty well before his injury on 35 minutes.

Oliver Skipp – 6 – Off the ball, he was fantastic with his sliding challenges. On the ball, he still looks very raw at times and gives the ball away in dangerous areas.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 4 – Need him to step up in the absence of Bentancur. Seemed to be going through the motions today when Spurs needed him to dictate play and calm things down.

Richarlison – N/A – Injured after 3 minutes.

Harry Kane – 5 – Drifted in and out of the game. Took his header very well but was also wasteful on the break a fair few times.

Heung-min Son – 5 – Got on the ball a lot more today but still looks short of his best. Wanted to see him on the shoulder more like that famous 4-goal performance vs the Saints.

Subs:

Dejan Kulusevski – 6 – Much more like himself today, taking people on and putting dangerous crosses in.

Ivan Perisic – 5 – A lovely goal but he is also all over the place defensively every week these days.

Emerson Royal – N/A

Pape Matar Sarr – N/A – Gave away a penalty.
