Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s Europa League win over Royal Antwerp

Tottenham Hotspur are through to the knockout stages of the Europa League, qualifying top of their group thanks to a win over Royal Antwerp tonight.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Joe Hart – 5 – Didn’t have a whole lot to do tonight, but he won’t mind that after the blunders last week. Another game under his belt.

Matt Doherty – 5.5 – Not a lot happened down the right-hand side either offensively or defensively, so not a great look at Doherty tonight. Regaining his fitness.

Japhet Tanganga – 6 – Can see him getting his energy back and steps out of defence well from time-to-time. Tanganga just needs games under his belt without injury.

Davinson Sanchez – 6 – Definitely a more comfortable display tonight, although he was put under little pressure. It would be some turn around to get back in the PL starting XI.

Ben Davies – 4 – Got caught out numerous times by the tricky Antwerp winger. Davies repeatedly got too tight and was easily spun. Needed to step off and stand him up.

Sergio Reguilon – 6 – An energetic display that was blighted with silly fouls and a lack of final end product from the left-wing-back.

Harry Winks – 7 – Knocked the ball around more positively and really got stuck in tonight. This is by no means patronising, but it was like he was doing a Hojbjerg impression. It was a bit harsh to take him off early.

Giovani Lo Celso – 9 – Looked really bright tonight. The best he has played in a long time. You can tell that Lo Celso wants to be back in that Premier League starting XI. Created space for himself, took shots, dribbled past people, and made chances for others. Took his eventual goal extremely well!

Lucas Moura – 7 – Did really well at dropping into the number ten role, turning and finding the runners tonight. Making the most of his quick feet in tight areas.

Gareth Bale – 7.5 – Demanded the ball tonight and was involved in some nice build-up moments. Also won a load of balls in the air. It’s a slow process, but he is getting there. An extra 0.5 for that incredible free-kick!

Carlos Vinicius – 6 – Very quiet tonight. Took up some strange positions and seemed to be playing within himself. Also missed a good one-on-one chance in the first half. Nice for him to get an easy tap in just before coming off.

Substitutes:

Steven Bergwijn – 6 – Added a bit more zip to the attack for Tottenham.

Harry Kane – 6 – Another game, another assist! Just pure class off the bench.

Tanguy Ndombele – 3 – Looked very sloppy after coming on.

Heung-min Son – 5 – A bright spark as always.

Moussa Sissoko – 4 – Came on to solidify the defence.
