Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s victory over Wolfsberger in Europe

Tottenham Hotspur managed to get a much-needed win under their belt this evening in the Europa League, albeit without a clean sheet.

Let’s take a look at how the players got on in the 4-1 win over Wolfsberger:

Hugo Lloris – 8 – A perfect reminder of his quality. A couple of nice stops throughout the match, as well as that superb reaction save from a first-half Wolfsberger header.

Matt Doherty – 7 – Got up and down the right-hand side well tonight. I just want to see more attacking killer instinct like he showed at Wolves.

Toby Alderweireld – 7.5 – Knocked the ball about for fun today and actually joined the attack a good few times. Some of those long cross-field balls are made for Dele Alli.

Eric Dier – 6.5 – A sensible job at the back, although he did get a little lost at one point in the first half when Wolfsberger almost scored with a header.

Ben Davies – 7 – A good attacking outlet down the left side tonight. Must be very tired from all the football he has played since Reguilon got injured.

Harry Winks – 7.5 – Some nice, quick, positive passing from Winks tonight. Perhaps the academy graduate is more of a squad option these days, but he still has stuff to offer.

Moussa Sissoko – 5 – A poor performance in general. One poor touch and a sloppy challenge gave away Tottenham’s clean sheet via the penalty spot.

Dele Alli – 9 – Absolutely ran the show. Of course, it was against lesser opposition, but Dele can only perform when he is given chances. So creative and dangerous tonight.

Gareth Bale – 9 – A goal and an assist from Bale this evening. Playing at third gear, but he looked dangerous at all times. He just needs to start playing at full gear in the Prem.

Lucas Moura – 8.5 – A reminder of what a good squad option Lucas Moura is. May not be a starter every week, but he always comes in and does a job in the Europa League.

Heung-min Son – 7.5 – Another reminder that Son is not a striker. Sniffed out his header expertly early in the match but was largely on the fringes of the game after that.

Substitutes:

Carlos Vinicius – 7 – Grew into the game and deserved his goal.

Erik Lamela – 6 – Looked sharp after coming on.

Steven Bergwijn – 6 – Had a good chance to score. Looked sharp.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 6.5 – Created the fourth goal and added solidity to the midfield.

Tanguy Ndombele – 5.5 – Looked as sharp as ever off the bench.
