Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s woeful 0-0 draw against Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur sank to a new low this evening against Bournemouth as they saw out one of the most pitiful 0-0 draws of the Premier League season.

With the team performance hitting rock bottom, let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 7 – The captain made a great stop to prevent Spurs from losing late on. Hard to blame him for anything that happened outfield, so he gets a decent rating today.

Serge Aurier – 2 – The whole formation is built around getting this man space to cross the ball, yet I have never seen a worse crosser of the ball in my life. What a waste.

Toby Alderweireld – 6 – Definitely the most solid-looking of the back four, although that is not saying a lot. Dier and Alderweireld seems like the way to go in the future.

Jan Vertonghen – 5 – Pretty average performance from the man on the way out, but he was far from the problem today.

Ben Davies – 2 – Much like Aurier, his crossing is simply awful and his defending leaves a lot to be desired too. Two new full-backs are desperately needed.

Harry Winks – 3 – Although Winks puts in more effort than most, he just could not find a pass today against Bournemouth.

Moussa Sissoko – 2 – Pretty similar performance to Winks, although without as much intensity or effort. Looked tired from minute one and should not have started.

Giovani Lo Celso – 4 – Definitely the brightest spark in the midfield, but that is not saying a lot. Got taken off at half-time, most likely to rest him for the North London Derby.

Erik Lamela – 1 – Must have given away ten fouls across the match and, although he got into some nice areas late on, he always hangs on to the ball for too long.

Harry Kane – 5 – Has to be ranked higher than most because he often looks like the best defender, midfielder, and striker. This system just does not suit the big man.

Steven Bergwijn – 4 – Unlucky to come off as he was a bright spark, but most likely being rested for the Arsenal match.

Substitutes:

Tanguy Ndombele – 6 – Looked brighter than anyone out there, although I don’t like him in a deep-lying midfield role. Put him further forward.

Heung-min Son – 3 – Didn’t really make an impact in the second half.

Lucas Moura – 5 – Looked bright after coming on, to be fair. Had one good chance but lost control.

Gedson Fernandes – N/A
