Opinion: Player ratings from Tottenham’s woeful 2-0 defeat to Leicester City

In what was arguably Tottenham’s worst performance of the Premier League season, Jose Mourinho saw his side drop all three points to Leicester in a 2-0 defeat.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 6 – Didn’t have a whole lot to do really but made a couple of routine stops.

Serge Aurier – 2 – I thought that we had seen the back of this Serge Aurier. He didn’t go for the ball and I’m not sure what he thought was going to happen beyond a penalty.

Toby Alderweireld – 5 – Defended well for the most part but seemed to get mixed up with Sissoko for the second goal.

Eric Dier – 5.5 – Tried to make things happen in the second half and defended okay. Just wasn’t anything going on in front of him.

Sergio Reguilon – 6 – Looked really lively down the left side, getting in behind a couple of times in the first half. Very quiet in the second half.

Moussa Sissoko – 4 – Lost the midfield battle in the first half and was bullied off the ball a few times. Not his usual composed self at times. Not sure how he didn’t head the ball away for the second Leicester goal.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 5 – Gave away too many needless fouls today and wasn’t as sharp with his short-range passing. Far from his best.

Tanguy Ndombele – 5.5 – Looked so creative on the ball but Spurs struggled to get it to him for large parts of the match. The Lilywhites were simply crowded out in midfield.

Giovani Lo Celso – 6 – Similar to Ndombele. Played off the right side but there was so little space for the Argentine to play in. Did well in flashes and got stuck in. Shame he went off injured.

Heung-min Son – 5.5 – Feeding off scraps today. A couple of nice moments in attack that didn’t quite lead to a shot on goal. Missed a key chance in the second half when he didn’t make clean contact with the ball.

Harry Kane – 5 – Missed a good headed chance in the first half. Dropped keep to collect the ball a few times but wasn’t effective. Just looked off the pace today.

Substitutes:

Gareth Bale – 5.5 – Looked decent when passing the ball around and whipped in a nice couple of corners. He didn’t really suit the low-block from Leicester though.

Lucas Moura – 6 – Actually looked very lively and was one of the only Spurs players to take on his man in the second half.

Harry Winks – 6 – Did more on the ball in midfield than Sissoko and Hojbjerg managed all game.
