Opinion: Pochettino needs to put faith in these three players over senior stars

Tottenham Hotspur have the chance to build on something after that 5-0 win over Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday night, but a big game against Liverpool is needed.

I also think that the time has come for Pochettino to ring the changes and field the players who are going to be at the club for the foreseeable future.

The squad against Red Star was largely made up of those fully committed to the cause and it was the most impressive performance in terms of fight and high pressing I have seen this year.

In my opinion, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld have been poor this season and they should now be in the situation where they have to fight for their places back.

I don’t care how big the names are, if they play poorly for 10 plus games, they have to be dropped and chances must be handed to other emerging stars.

Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth, and Japhet Tanganga are the future of the Spurs defence, especially if Jan and Toby are set to leave on frees in the summer.

It is about time that Poch built for the future, beyond the Belgian pair, and gave this trio a chance to forge partnerships.
