Tottenham Hotspur have a number of issues on the pitch at the moment from the front to the back, but I believe one of the biggest problems is the central defence.
For some reason, Pochettino is against playing Jan Vertonghen at the moment, and has opted for Davinson Sanchez on the left side in recent weeks.
Don’t get me wrong, the easiest and my preferred fix to this would simply be to reinstate Jan as a starter, simply because he is the club’s most consistent defender.
However, if Poch has a problem with playing the Belgian, then I believe he should give Japhet Tanganga a chance to impress.
The 20-year-old academy starlet looked sensational on the pre-season tour, and wise beyond his years in terms of his mature defending and ability.
In my opinion, Davinson Sanchez is too error-prone to sit in a back two for Spurs, especially on his weaker side, so Poch should look for new options.
I honestly believe that Tanganga, if given the chance, could prove to be the next successful graduate from the academy.
