Opinion: Report suggests Jose Mourinho may have found new dead ball specialist

Tottenham have struggled for a reliable dead-ball specialist since Christian Eriksen left the club back in January.

The Danish international also came in for criticism from some Spurs fans for failing to beat the first man with his corner kicks towards the end of his time in North London.

In our opinion, it would have been presumed that corner duties would fall to Erik Lamela, Giovani Lo Celso or Steven Bergwijn but Football.London reports that a different Spurs star was put on corner kick duty during the friendly against Norwich on Friday.

Tanguy Ndombele was the man pictured taking corner kicks during the game, which could be a sign as to what to expect moving forward.

The report also reveals that Juan Foyth was used as a right-back in the friendly against the Canaries rather than at centre-half.

The 22-year-old is no stranger to the role having played in the position for Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino as well on international duty for Argentina in the past.

It is evident that Mourinho wants to try out Ndombele in a more advanced role rather than as a box to box midfielder. The Frenchman did play further forward in the handful of appearances he made leading up to the suspension of the league back in March. He seemed to play a similar role in the internal eleven vs eleven friendly last week, as well as in the friendly against Norwich.
