Opinion: Spurs player ratings from friendly loss to Watford – Including Ndombele

Tottenham were far from their best in a 2-1 friendly defeat away to Watford this afternoon, their final match before the Premier League campaign commences next weekend.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Joe Hart – 4 – Had one big save to make and he failed to make it, letting the ball squeeze past at his near post, far from the corner.

Serge Aurier – 4.5 – Made some decent runs going forward, but didn’t do much when he actually got the ball on the wing. His crossing was woeful today.

Davinson Sanchez – 5 – Looked all over the place for the first goal and didn’t really impress after that either.

Cameron Carter-Vickers – 5 – Also looked at sixes and sevens whenever Watford attacked, clearly lacking any kind of chemistry or communication with Sanchez.

Dennis Cirkin – 4 – Looks so nice on the ball but let himself down by giving away such a needless and soft penalty. Came off at half-time.

Harvey White – 7 – One of the most impressive players on the ball, White looks equally silky as he does tenacious in the middle of the park.

Tanguy Ndombele – 5.5 – You just never feel that he is giving his all. Ndombele is a 10/10 with the ball at his feet but a 1/10 off the ball. So frustrating to watch. Came off at half-time.

Dele Alli – 6.5 – Looks very sharp on the ball this pre-season, although there was little in the way of chemistry between the boys up front. Lost his temper towards the end of the game and his game went out the window with that.

Erik Lamela – 6 – Gave away plenty of fouls and did little with the ball at the other end. He definitely improved in the final third in the second half. Did well to win the penalty.

Lucas Moura – 7 – Like Dele, Lucas looks extremely sharp at the moment. Unfortunately, this was limited to a bunch of solo runs today as the team performance was lacking.

Heung-min Son – 6 – Didn’t get much service up front today. Not a case of him being poor, it just wasn’t his day. Took his penalty very well though and cleared off the line at the end.

Substitutes –

Paulo Gazzaniga – 5 – Came on at half time but had very little to do.

Juan Foyth – 5 – Came on at half time to cover at left-back. Wasn’t really there to get forward and looked okay on the ball at best. Not a lot more to say.

Jack Clarke – 6.5 – Made a delightful run in the second half just after coming on that nearly led to a goal for Spurs. Certainly looks sharper than most, just needs to work on his end product.

Jamie Bowden – N/A – Came on for the final 10 minutes.

Alfie Devine – Unused sub

George Marsh – Unused sub

Jubril Okedina – Unused sub

Dane Scarlett – Unused sub
