Opinion: Spurs player ratings from pre-season friendly against Leyton Orient

Tottenham Hotspur kicked off their pre-season this afternoon against Leyton Orient, with a number of first-team stars getting their first runouts of the summer.

The game ended 1-1; let’s take a look at how they got on (within the context of a pre-season friendly):

Joe Hart – 5 – Very little to do between the sticks.

Maksim Paskotsi – 6.5 – Playing out of position but looked decent in the air and knocked it about well at times. A nice challenge in the first half too.

Cameron Carter-Vickers – 8 – A classic Carter-Vickers pre-season cameo. Always looks solid but, for whatever reason, has never been given a real shot in the first-team. Some great tracking and challenges out there.

Eric Dier – 6.5 – Captain for the day, Dier did well to marshall a very makeshift back four out there today.

Kallum Cesay – 6 – I was impressed by a few overlaps the left-back make today. Played a very high and attacking role.

Nile John – 7 – Came the closest in the early stages with a left-footed shot and looked to be full of running in the middle of the pitch. Kept things ticking over and looked dangerous.

Harry Winks – 7.5 – A few great long-range raking passes from deep. Seemed to be making a conscious effort to be quicker and more positive with his passing. A couple of sloppy moments but it is pre-season. Overall, I was very impressed.

Dele Alli – 6.5 – Didn’t get on the ball in attacking areas as much as I wanted, but looks very fit and full of running. Plenty more to come from him in pre-season I think.

Steven Bergwijn – 6 – Full of running down that left side and a constant threat over the top. I am predicting big things from the Dutchman this year.

Lucas Moura – 7.5 – A great first time assist for the opening goal and Moura was full of running and great footwork today. Such a great player to have in the squad.

Dane Scarlett – 8 – Off the mark for Spurs in pre-season. Scarlett opened the scoring against Leyton with a very cool finish and ran his socks off today.

Substitutes:

Alfie Whiteman – 6 – Made a lovely stop from a free-kick.

Harvey White – 5.5 – Such a tidy football in the middle of the park.

Troy Parrott – 4.5 – Barely got into the game after coming on, but more chances will come.

Jack Clarke – 6 – A lot of great running and got into some great areas without too much of an end product.

TJ Eyoma – 5 – Took the captain’s armband which says a lot. Most notable moment was arguably the cynical pullback but one nice block too.

Alfie Devine – 6.5 – Knocked the ball around so well and is still just 16. Such an exciting prospect.

Malachi Fagan-Walcott – 5 – Knocked the ball around well and looked good defensively.

Tobi Omole – 5 – Caught out a little for Leyton’s goal but some good defensive moments too.

Jamie Bowden – 5.5 – Played a couple of really nice creative passes.

Romaine Mundle – 4.5 – Didn’t get on the ball a whole lot but an exciting creative prospect.

Brooklyn Lyons-Foster – 5 – A good run out and knocked it around well.
