Opinion: Spurs player ratings from the European victory over Dinamo Zagreb

Tottenham Hotspur will be taking a lead to Croatia later this month when they face a trip to Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League thanks to their 2-0 home victory this evening.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 6 – Apart from a couple of very straight forward stops, the Frenchman had very little to do between the sticks.

Serge Aurier – 7.5 – Looked a little rusty at times, although that is to be expected upon his return, but he was a real attacking outlet down the right with some superb crosses.

Davinson Sanchez – 7 – Continued his good form with a steady performance at the back, albeit without too much pressure. His recovery pace came in handy a couple of times.

Eric Dier – 7 – Like Sanchez, he wasn’t called into action too much but he did his job well and looked very dominant in the air for Spurs.

Ben Davies – 7 – Got forward more often than he usually does and provided a consistent overlap for Heung-min Son. Good to see him do this when Spurs were in control.

Moussa Sissoko – 5 – Looked very sloppy on the ball. He used to scream consistency without being too flashy. This evening, his passes and touches were very hit and miss.

Tanguy Ndombele – 8.5 – Absolutely strolled through the game and I mean that as a compliment. He glides across the turf and finds attackers in the pocket effortlessly. How that wasn’t a penalty, I’ll never know – but at least Ndombele was okay after.

Dele Alli – 7 – Dele drifts in and out of games, that’s just his style. However, when he comes alive, he looks different class as a scorer and creator. More time needed.

Erik Lamela – 8 – He loves the Europa League. Lamela’s intensity, work rate and creativity epitomised the entire Spurs performance. Such a great squad player to have at the moment. His run in the build-up to Kane’s opener deserves a mention.

Heung-min Son – 8 – Looked really dangerous off that left-wing all night. He put in some incredible crosses and deserved an assist or two. Hopefully, the goals will come again.

Harry Kane – 9 – Looks different class against lesser opponents in this competition. Dropped into the pockets all night and sprayed incredible passes around the pitch. Still has time to link up in attack and get a goal too. Quality.

Substitutes:

Gareth Bale – 7 – Came on and looked very bright as he has done a lot of late. Put in a sensational cross for Bergwijn with his first touches of the ball.

Steven Bergwijn – 6 – Almost scored with his first touch but didn’t look too confident with the volley. Needs a goal desperately!

Lucas Moura – 7 – Looked a bright spark off the bench, as he often does.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 6 – Came on to cement that clean sheet.

Carlos Vinicius – 6 – Worked really hard and should have scored at the end.
