Opinion: The dream combined Spurs and Arsenal North London XI

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal go head-to-head at the Emirates this weekend in the first men’s North London Derby of the season.

Despite being arch rivals, after both clubs have started the season in impressive form, we wanted to take a look at what a combined XI could look like.

We have gone for Hugo Lloris in goal because he is head and shoulders above Aaron Ramsdale, even if the Gunners man has been impressive since his move.

At left-wing-back, Ivan Perisic has to get the nod due to the consistent assists he has been picking up this season. On the right, we would opt for a more attacking asset than Emerson Royal, so Bukayo Saka gets the call-up.

In the back three, Eric Dier and Cristian Romero simply cannot be displaced on their form over the past year, while William Saliba looks a class act for Arsenal to round off the three.

Central midfield is a tough call, but we have gone for the mixture of creativity from Odegaard and the all-round industry of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Up front, some big names have to drop to the bench, with Kulusevski, Richarlison, and Martinelli not quite making the cut. Harry Kane and the now-in-form Heung-min Son pick themselves, with Gabriel Jesus impossible to leave out at the moment.

But what a strong bench it would be!
