Opinion: The dream combined Tottenham and Chelsea XI

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea may go head-to-head as fierce enemies this weekend in the Premier League, but we wanted to take a peek at what a combined XI could look like.

We have gone for Hugo Lloris between the sticks for his vast experience and his top form over the past couple of seasons, with Mendy just edged out.

Across the back line, it is hard to make a case for any Spurs stars to sneak their way in, but we’ll give it a go.

We have gone for the experience and leadership of Thiago Silva alongside teammate Antonio Rudiger in the heart of defence and the all-round Rhys James on the right.

On the left, Sergio Reguilon sneaks in as Chilwell hasn’t been playing much and Alonso is not great in a flat-four.

In the heart of midfield, there were options aplenty, with Tanguy Ndombele, Matteo Kovacic, Oliver Skipp, Dele Alli, Jorginho and more all missing out. We have gone for the unstoppable duo of N’Golo Kante and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Ahead of them, Harry Kane plays a number ten role with Heung-min Son and Mason Mount occupying the wide areas. Romelu Lukaku leads the line as the number nine.
