Tottenham Hotspur undoubtedly have some amazing players within their ranks, but with a number of senior stars coming towards the ends of the Spurs careers, it is time for change.
For as many positions that Spurs have a clear and obvious started, I think there is another in which they need to strengthen over the next two windows.
Let’s take a look at the five positions in which Spurs need to spend money:
Central defender –
If we assume that one of Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth, or Japhet Tanganga will make the step up to replace Toby or Jan, Spurs will still need to bring in another world-class player. They need someone proven and experienced, but with room to grow. My main suggestion at the moment would be Nathan Ake.
Right-back –
This barely needs explaining to any Spurs fan. Poch has already gone through four different right-backs this season, with none being able to hold down the position of first choice. While Walker-Peters can act as a decent back-up option, I believe Spurs should invest in Steven Sessegnon, Max Aarons, or Youcef Atal.
Defensive midfield –
I think that Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks have the two central spots on lockdown for the next few years at Spurs. However, I believe the team is missing that deep-lying sweeper player, much like Eric Dier when he first burst onto the scene in North London.
Left-back –
Danny Rose is coming to the end of his career and I do not see Ryan Sessegnon as a left-back necessarily, so I would like to see Levy invest in a new player. Ben Chilwell would be the ultimate choice, but I am not sure Spurs have that kind of money to invest.
Striker –
Harry Kane has needed a back-up striker for years now. Fernando Llorente did an excellent job as a plan B option, but now that he has left the club, Spurs look lost at times. My ideal choice would be Haaland to fill this role.
