Opinion: The starting XI and bench I want to see line up for Spurs next season

In my opinion, Tottenham Hotspur only did half a job this summer when I was expecting a huge rebuilding of the first team.

I believe that many of the players who stayed are not good enough for Spurs anymore and Poch and Levy failed to bring in enough reinforcements.

Let’s take a look at who I want to see start next season after another two transfer windows.

I still believe that Hugo Lloris has a couple of years at the top, as long as he can recreate that early-season form and cut out his mistakes by reducing his risks taken. I also would rather spend money in other areas at this moment in time.

It is a much-changed back four, with Sessegnon starting at left-back after a year integrating into the side, and Sanchez stepping up into a starting role. New signings, Nathan Ake and Max Aarons also slot straight in to make one of the youngest defences in the league.

In midfield, a partnership that is already blossoming, Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks. Giovani Lo Celso then acts as a playmaker a little further on.

Heung Min Son and Paulo Dybala play wide, with Harry Kane leading the line as always.

I believe this starting XI would have such room to grow over the next few years.

However, my bench would also be full of experience…

Paulo Gazzaniga, Danny Rose, Moussa Sissoko, Juan Foyth, Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela and the addition of Erling Braut Haaland.
