Opinion: The starting XI and bench we are hoping for after summer transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur started their rebuild under Jose Mourinho in the January transfer window, bringing in Gedson Fernandes on an 18-month loan deal, Steven Bergwijn from PSV, and cementing a permanent deal for Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis.

Spurs also sold Christian Eriksen to Inter Milan and loaned out Danny Rose, Kyle Walker-Peters, and a whole host of youngsters.

However, we believe/hope that the rebuild will continue in the summer, so here is a possible starting line-up we would love to see next season.

We have Hugo Lloris still in goal, as Spurs have greater priorities when it comes to splashing the cash in the next window.

At left-back, we have Ben Chilwell, with recent reports linking him to Spurs (Express). The most unlikely of the new signings, but Spurs definitely need a new left-back.

In the centre of defence, we have a new partnership of Nathan Ake, purchased from Bournemouth, and Japhet Tanganga, the recent breakout starlet.

At right-back, we hope to see Spurs bring in Youcef Atal from Nice to replace Serge Aurier in the first-team.

Harry Winks retains his spot as that holding sweeper in midfield after his game seems to be coming on under Mourinho of late. Lo Celso and Ndombele, both now fully fit, line up as creators ahead of Winks.

Harry Kane is back fit and ready up front, with Heung Min Son on his left and new boy Hakim Ziyech on the right.

Recent reports have linked Chelsea with a £38m move for Ziyech (Sky Sports), but we are hoping to see Spurs swoop in and get involved.

The bench consists of:

Paulo Gazzaniga

Davinson Sanchez

Ryan Sessegnon

Steven Bergwijn

Dele Alli

Lucas Moura

Gedson Fernandes
