Opinion: The three players Tottenham should sign in January to turn things around

Tottenham Hotspur undoubtedly need to rebuild their ageing squad before it is too late, something they really should have done in the last transfer window.

While there are a number of players who should be sold in January, I also believe that Pochettino and Levy need to inject some fresh blood into the squad.

Let’s take a look at my three signings Spurs should make in the next window:

Paulo Dybala –

Spurs need a big name to come in and Paulo Dybala seems like the best option after Juve accepted a £64.4m bid in the summer (Sky Sports). However, the Argentine recently implied that he did not want to join Tottenham (Corriere Della Sport), so this one may be a struggle unless Juventus force him out the door. He would be the perfect replacement for Eriksen in a number 10/playmaker type role under Pochettino.

Max Aarons –

Pochettino will likely be training Ryan Sessegnon up at left-back in the coming years and I think he should be doing the same with Max Aarons. The Norwich full-back looks strong, speedy, and hungry, three things Spurs need in abundance at the moment. Could these two be the next Walker and Rose?

Nathan Ake –

I want a new centre-back, with Jan and Toby’s contracts coming to an end. However, as Spurs need someone to slot straight in, it seems logical to look towards someone with Premier League experience. In terms of a player who is good in the air, fast, and great with the ball at his feet, Nathan Ake should be high up the list of contenders.
