Opinion: The three players who Poch must promote to the starting XI next weekend

Tottenham Hotspur may have an impressive four points from two games at the start of this season, including a draw away to Manchester City, but their performances have been lacking.

Spurs are missing a certain zip and cutting edge to their play, as well as the incredible fitness levels that are usually associated with Mauricio Pochettino.

I believe that Poch simply must promote these three players to the starting line up next week after they missed out against Man City:

Heung Min Son –

The South Korean sat out the final game of his ban for a red card against Bournemouth last season and boy do Tottenham need him. Spurs missed that direct pace and energy from the front against City, as well as Son’s constant goal threat. He scored three against the Citizens in the Champions League last year and is capable of single-handedly winning games.

Lucas Moura –

A front three of Kane, Moura, and Son would be my first choice at the moment, with the Brazilian firing on all cylinders. While Moura is great off the bench, I think it’s about time that he was handed a few more starts in matches.

Jan Vertonghen –

Get this man back in the starting XI. Poch may be worried about his fitness, but why not play him for 60 and then take him off for Davies or Sanchez? Build up his match fitness and sharpness now rather than later, because he is Tottenham’s most consistent defender in my eyes.
