Opinion: This player should never feature for Tottenham ever again

I was very sceptical about signing Serge Aurier back when he first joined Tottenham and nothing has ever convinced me that I was wrong.

The way I see it, Aurier has no defensive common sense or intelligence, with his pace digging him out of a lot of problems.

He gives away silly fouls that cost the team and he also doesn’t offer much going forward in terms of an end product.

He reminds me very much of a young Kyle Walker before he really learned his trade, apart from the fact that Aurier should now be in his prime.

I am all for Tottenham selling the Ivorian and bringing in someone new like Steven Sessegnon, Max Aarons, or Youcef Atal.

The final straw for me, and I’m sure many others, was his arrogant interview this week in which he stated that there was no competition for right-back spots at Spurs (Bal des Productions).

This comes after Kieran Trippier, the first-choice, left the club for Atletico Madrid in the summer, leaving an open spot in the starting XI.

Inexperienced Kyle Walker-Peters, and makeshift Davinson Sanchez have filled the spots so far this season, with Eric Dier, Moussa Sissoko, and Juan Foyth all able to play there too.

Aurier has yet to appear all summer for Spurs, and not only did he insult his fellow teammates with those comments, he also openly admitted that he wanted to leave the club this summer.

He is not and never has been the type of player we need here.

I sincerely hope he never plays again.
