Opinion: This Spurs academy starlet should be bumped into the first-team this season

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly close to selling Vincent Janssen this summer, with Cancha claiming that he has passed his medical with Mexican club Monterrey.

Janssen made a few cameo appearances towards the end of last season, but was largely unused by Pochettino for the two years before.

Fernando Llorente is technically a free agent at the moment, as his Tottenham contract ran out on June 30 this year, but the Evening Standard have reported that Spurs have offered him a one-year extension with reduced wages.

This leaves Harry Kane as the only out-and-out striker still definitely planning to be at the club come the start of the new season, but with his recent ankle issues, Poch will need a back-up.

It would seem to me that Troy Parrott being handed a start against Juventus this week was almost like a trial for the teenager, with Poch offering him the chance to impress and book a spot in the first team for next season.

Heung Min Son and Lucas Moura can both play up-front as well as on the wings, but I would name Parrott as my second-choice striker behind Kane next season if I were Poch.

I was impressed with his confidence, skill, pace, and end product against some top Juventus defenders, while it also looks as if he has grown and bulked over in the past year.
