Opinion: Three Spurs players who were awful against Southampton in the FA Cup

Tottenham Hotspur looked to be booking their spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup today against Southampton at St Mary’s, but could only book their place in the draw.

The Lilywhites had the better of the chances in the first half, before taking the lead on the 60-minute mark, but a late Boufal goal tied it up for the Saints.

Let’s take a look at the players who were extremely poor for Spurs today:

Heung Min Son –

I know he got Spurs the goal that eventually earned them a draw, but the South Korean was woeful today. He spurned a number of golden chances, whilst also selfishly going it alone a few times when he could have rolled someone else in for a better chance. Sonny gave the ball away time and time again, didn’t help Tanganga enough defensively, and was poor all day bar his eventual goal.

Dele Alli –

His first touch was all over the place today and his final ball was even worse. Perhaps if he’d had his passing boots on today, he could have set up a couple of goals. The Englishman also doesn’t do enough defensively in that deeper role, often dangling a foot rather than getting stuck in.

Davinson Sanchez –

With limited game time at the moment, Sanchez looks rocky at the back. To be fair, all parts of his game seem to be working nicely, apart from clearances in the box. Took his eye off the ball a couple of times today and gifted chances to the likes of Danny Ings.
