Opinion: Tottenham Hotspur’s best combined XI of the decade

Tottenham Hotspur have had some incredible players over the past ten years and it has been a fantastic decade in terms of Spurs progressing as a club.

The two standout teams have to be Harry Redknapp’s and Mauricio Pochettino’s, both of which performed well above where many expected them to.

I have chosen a team of the decade with my heart rather than my head, so this side may let in a fair few goals, but boy would they score some!

In goal, there is only one real choice, World Cup winner Hugo Lloris. Unfortunately, the likes of Gomes didn’t push Hugo too close.

I have forfeited full-backs and gone for a back three of Ledley King, Toby Alderweireld, and Jan Vertonghen. What a solid and well-rounded trio that would be!

In midfield, we also have a vast array of talent, with Luka Modric, Christian Eriksen, and Mousa Dembele lining up together. Can you imagine the creativity?

We then have Harry Kane up front, with Rafa Van der Vaart just behind and Gareth Bale and Heung Min Son on the wings in one of the most frightening front fours in history.

Honourable mentions –

Dele Alli

Kyle Walker

Brad Friedel

Danny Rose

Scott Parker

Michael Dawson

Jermaine Defoe

Robbie Keane
