Opinion: Tottenham Hotspur’s best five players of the season so far

Tottenham Hotspur may have had an iffy start to the new season, but there have been a number of standout performers for the Lilywhites in the opening stages.

Let’s take a look at my five best players of the season so far:

Hugo Lloris –

A cat and a brick wall mixed into one so far this season, Hugo has been in the best form I have seen from him in quite some time. When an opposition player goes 1v1, you just expect the Frenchman to keep it out. Long may this form continue!

Harry Winks –

Winksy has been the best player of the season overall for me, showing consistency and quality in his game. He keeps the ball moving so well for Spurs which makes it tricky for the opposition to shift from side to side for 90 minutes. Wearing sides down and finding space, Winks is bossing it so far.

Erik Lamela –

His general gameplay never impresses me too much but you can’t argue with his return. Two goals and an assist so far in five Premier League games is pretty decent from the Argentine. It looks like he may get a run in the starting XI and I would love to see him push on and have a successful, injury-free season.

Harry Kane –

The service to Harry Kane so far this season has been very poor, but the England captain is still racking up the goals. Lamela and Alli should have both put one on a plate for Kane in the Champions League in midweek. No matter how the team, or even Kane himself, is playing, you always back him to get on the scoresheet.

Heung Min Son –

Banned for the first two games, Sonny has looked to be the danger man ever since. He looks full of confidence and seems to have been given a free role this season. He is quickly becoming one of the very best players in this Spurs squad, as his performance against Palace showed.
