Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the 0-0 draw against Watford

Tottenham Hotspur are without an away win in the Premier League yet again today, while also being winless in the competition across 2020.

Spurs fans last saw their side beat another Premier League side back on Boxing Day last year, which simply isn’t good enough for a side looking to push for top four.

Let’s take a look at how the players did today:

Paulo Gazzaniga – 9

I have to rank him highly as he made a couple of smart stops and also saved a penalty that ensured Spurs at least got one point.

Japhet Tanganga – 5

If it had been a normal left-back, they would have been rated lower, but I can’t help but feel for the lad. Wasn’t fair to put him out there today.

Jan Vertonghen – 4

Never looked comfortable on the ball or defending against Deeney, also gave away a penalty in the second half.

Toby Alderweireld – 7

Generally dealt with the difficult Deeney rather well and picked out some lovely passes throughout the match.

Serge Aurier – 7.5

Defender really well today and put in some nice crosses in the dying moments.

Harry Winks – 7

I thought he was very positive with his fizzed passes into the creative players today and picked out that lovely ball to Son, however, he was let down by his teammates in defence, left to do the job of two on his own.

Dele Alli – 7.5

He played well in flashes and worked hard off the ball, but I can’t help but feel that Mourinho found his best position as a number 10, then dropped him back into central midfield anyway.

Giovani Lo Celso – 7

Worked hard today and created some lovely chances for his side. Looks to be growing into his role in this team.

Erik Lamela – 6

Played well on the ball but seemed to have a mentality that he had to go it alone every single time, when there were better passes on offer.

Heung Min Son – 5.5

Looked dangerous in the early minutes, then I forgot he was even playing.

Lucas Moura – 6

Some nice moments here and there in the second half once he went out wide, but was wasted and isolated as a striker.

Substitutes:

Christian Eriksen – 6

Came on and picked out some nice passes.

Gedson Fernandes – 7

Looked really bright in the final third when he came on, and could have grabbed an assist if teammates had been gambling.
