Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the 1-0 defeat to West Ham

Tottenham Hotspur lost yet another London derby this afternoon as West Ham took home all three points from the London Stadium in a tight affair.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 8 – A couple of good stops for the Frenchman today. Couldn’t do anything for the goal and was superb coming off his line to sweep all day.

Emerson Royal – 6 – Still growing into the Premier League you feel. Did his job defensively and dealt with the physical presence of Antonio well but needed to get forward more.

Cristian Romero – 6.5 – Can be guilty of overplaying at times. Against certain opponents, like Antonio, you need to put the ball out when you have the chance. However, he did play very well when on the ball too.

Eric Dier – 8 – Really impressive today. When Romero did make mistakes, Dier was there to mop up any trouble. Dominant in the air and calm on the ball. Unlucky to be on the losing side.

Sergio Reguilon – 6 – Some great deliveries into the box that led to a few headed chances. Always a threat with that left foot. Unfortunately, that was all undone by an error at the back that eventually led to West Ham’s goal. Shame as he played well.

Oliver Skipp – 7 – Worked hard in that midfield to keep things ticking over and cut off the passing lanes for West Ham on the break. A tough and tight match for the youngster. Perhaps needs to improve his final third game.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 7 – Much like Skipp, there wasn’t a whole lot of room for Hojbjerg to operate in, but he worked hard for the team and contributed well on and off the ball.

Tanguy Ndombele – 7 – A different kind of game for Tanguy today with space between the lines coming at a premium. He managed to drop deep and create chances from further back, including the pass that sent Son in behind in the first half. Drifted out of the game.

Lucas Moura – 7 – Showed frequent bursts of life when coming inside off the right, committing defenders and winning fouls. Didn’t quite happen in the final third for him.

Heung-min Son – 6 – Wasn’t in the game a whole lot beyond a couple of breaks. Probably should have squared to Kane when he got in behind.

Harry Kane – 5.5 – Wasn’t really in the game beyond his headed chance. Also at fault for the only goal of the game with some sub-par marking from the corner. Not his day.
